Catherine Fisher


Catherine Fisher lives in Newport, Wales. She began her writing career as a poet and her work has appeared in many anthologies. She has also published collections of poetry, as well as many novels for children. She has taught Writing for Children at the University of Glamorgan and has also worked as a primary school teacher and as an archaeologist. Myth, legend and spirituality play an important part in all of her work.

Awards include: the Welsh Arts Council Young Writers’ Prize 1989, Cardiff International Poetry Competition 1989 and the Tir na n’Og Prize 1995. Shortlisted for the Smarties Book Prize in 1990 and the Children's Whitbread in 2003.
